Final Drills

As Shae's barrier gave out and shattered, the Geth raised one of its own; a trio of hexagonal barriers in a small arc in front of it. The angle cut off fire from both Reimi and Barrow, forcing the latter to try to get to a better position.

With a barrier in place, Reimi was now of little use to the rest of the team. Her boosted shields were still in place, but she wasn't sure how long they'd last. Holstering her sniper rifle, she quickly got up, looking to find another spot with a better angle...

The barrier was in place stopping Graal and Shae from firing as well, giving the Prime a chance for its shields to regenerate. It didn't like it could shoot through the shields either, at least not with the rifle it carried; though it soon proved that its pulse cannon could, as it took another shot at Reimi once she was moving.

With Reimi's boosted shields from Energy Drain, the pulse cannon didn't manage to get through her defenses, but it was close. It was important before for her to find cover, but now it was even more important, since her life would depend on it...

Needing to get attention off of Reimi, Shae did the only thing she could think to do. She ran towards the barrier, jumping and blinking upwards; putting her over the barrier. As she fell, she led with a spray of icy particles, making the Prime's armor more brittle and allowing her sword to drive into its shoulder mounted cannon.

With the attention off her, Reimi was able to get to a better angle. Though she was still hunting cover, she was able to use Energy Drain again to restore her shields, though this time it wasn't enough to give her the added benefit of boosted shields. She was still out in the open, searching for cover, leaving distance her only real protection.

Shae wrenched her sword to the side, removing the Geth's left arm and the cannon mounted on it. With its remaining arm, it struck the Asari and threw her back against the barriers just before the shields collapsed; allowing Graal to rush in once more. With no threat from the pulse cannon any longer, Reimi was in considerably less danger at her distance.

With the cannon dealt with, Reimi was now pretty much safe. Even without cover, this meant she could go back to firing at the giant Geth, which was quickly looking to be indestructible aside from an arm being removed by Shae's sword.

With only one arm, the Prime unit had a much harder time holding off Graal; the large Krogan starting to overpower the Geth. Between its shields and its heavy armor, it was easy to think the machine was indestructible, but their persistence soon paid off. As Graal wrestled with the synthetic Prime, it left it open to Reimi; her sniper round striking it in the head and piercing through. The lights went out suddenly, and the Krogan was able to take it down to the ground, where it laid motionless.

With the Prime going down, Reimi holstered her sniper rifle and drew her assault rifle before advancing on the others. "Everyone alright?" she calls out, looking for a status update from the rest of her allies after such a difficult fight.

Shae was a little slow getting up, but both Graal and Barrow seemed relatively unharmed. The asari was injured, but it wasn't anything some medi-gel couldn't take care of.

"I take it thats all of them... Otherwise they'd have come to the defense of that one." Barrow says, looking over the remains of the Prime.

Keeping her assault rifle drawn and scanning the battlefield, Reimi turned to her own omnitool, scanning around the area for additional signals. While it made sense that other Geth units would have joined the fight with the large leader, letting down their guard until they were sure was a bad idea.

The only Geth signal in the area was the device they'd set up, whose purpose was still unknown to the group. So far, it hadn't done anything detrimental like the previous one they'd discovered on Eden Prime.

"No signals except the device," Reimi calls out, putting her assault rifle away and hurrying to join the others. "Now, let's try to figure out what they were doing here... and collect what salvage we can."

There was plenty of salvage to be had, if anyone had a mind to look through. The two-hunters were mangled and in pieces, devastated by biotic energy, but the Prime and Troopers were relatively whole; and their weapons lay nearby.

"Its a small force, so they can't have been doing much. Have to wonder if the pirates even knew they were here, or just gave them room." Shae comments.

"That device is likely the reason they were here," Reimi remarks, bending down to claim one of the trooper's Pulse Rifles. "If we can secure it, we should... anyone else want one of these? If not, I'll take all three, see what I can learn from two of them to make improvements on the other..."

"Too small for me." Graal answers, moving to take a look inside the structure while the others looked over the device. Shae and Barrow also declined, preferring their own weapons.

With no one else interested in a pulse rifle, Reimi claimed all three before joining the others at the device. She wasn't sure what she could learn, but in close she tried to decipher it using her omnitool.

While difficult to decipher, the device seemed to be some kind of long-range scanner; powerful enough to scout the entire planet, and perhaps further into the system. It was set to look for something specific, but it was hard to interpret just what it was. It did however, seem to be picking up something incredibly close.

"It's a scanner," announces Reimi. "I can't tell what it's searching for, but it's searching at least the entire planet, and it found something... something incredibly close."

"How close? Is it inside the structure?" Shae asks, looking over towards Graal. The direction seemed right, but the Geth system was difficult to accurately decipher.

"Seems to be in that direction, but I can't say more," Reimi remarks. "Without knowing more about Geth code, understanding it isn't easy..."

"May as well check it out, should be clear if there aren't any other signals." Shae offers, moving towards Graal. The Krogan hadn't seen any movement near the entrance, but kept his shotgun in hand.

Picking one of the Geth pulse rifles, Reimi joined the others at the door to the structure. Shae and Graal had served as front line fighters so far, and Reimi saw little reason not to let them continue in that role here.

The inside of the structure was of simple design, though it seemed to just be a entryway to something deeper. Shortly past the entrance, a ramp descended below ground, into more of the structure. There was still no sign of anything else Geth though, as they progressed deeper into the complex.

Below ground was a little more busy, and looked to be some kind of storage, though it had long since been abandoned; perhaps by the pirates that inhabited the island. In one of the chambers, pieces of wreckage were strewn about, appearing to be some kind of ship, or at least the remains of one.
