Final Drills

As soon as Reimi's shot went off, Shae took off ahead of Graal and Barrow. The other human had kept his turret with him this time, since Reimi hadn't really needed it against the Geth.

With her biotics enhancing her movement, the Asari was quickly near the remaining pirates; using her pistol instead of her sword, and raising her shield as soon as she was fired upon.

While Reimi targeted anyone not in cover, her focus was on finding targets of opportunity for her Energy Drain; among bandits and pirates, only the higher ranks were usually afforded shielding, which usually meant they were more skilled too.

There was one among the pirates that seemed better equipped than the others; a Salarian with heavier armor and a translucent blue barrier around him.

Shae fell back once the pirates began firing at her, not wanting to let any of the pirates get around her shield to fire at her.

The barrier was all Reimi needed to see to know her best target. Instead of using a bullet, however, she used her Energy Drain, much as she'd been so effective with against the Geth they'd been fighting so far.

The Energy Drain stripped the Salarian pirate of his shields, which left him exposed to a blast of shrapnel from Graal's shotgun; the metal shards shredding his armor. The Krogan laughed, following it up with a shot from his Flak Cannon.

Barrow tossed out his turret amidst the pirates, causing chaos as it began shooting at them from within their own ranks.

With her objective complete, Reimi returned to how she started the fight; lining up shots with her sniper rifle to try to even the odds. She couldn't do it quickly, the disadvantage to the range and power of her weapon of choice, but her angle meant the pirates had a hard time finding cover against both her and the other N7 members.

With only a handful of pirates outside the structures, it didn't take long before the more experienced and trained N7 squad had overwhelmed them. It was safe to assume that any other pirates inside had heard the gunfire and explosions. They'd caught the first group by surprise, but it would likely be different once they pushed inside.

Having to press into the buildings meant Reimi could no longer rely on her sniper rifle. Putting it away, she switched to her new geth weapon as she advanced to join the others.

As they gathered at the door, Shae took her sword in hand, using her wrist to brace her gun hand. "Best to assume they've heard us, and that there are more. Too few here for any kind of successful piracy." the Asari says, leading with her gun as she looks around.

"Unless they've been fighting the Geth," Reimi mutters. This type of situation was always one where she'd performed poorly, but staying back in a support role wouldn't benefit her allies at all in this situation.

"If we could only be so lucky." Shae says, starting forward. Much like the structure the Geth had inhabited, this building open into a set of stairs descending below ground; making it likely that the structures had existed before the Geth's arrival. As soon as the door opened, Shae took a couple shots off her barrier before getting her Backlash shield up. "Contact!" she announces, taking a shot as a pirate ducked behind some crates.

"Of course it's not empty," Reimi sighs. Ducking behind the nearest cover, she could do little more than wait for a chance to get to a better angle, though unfortunately that would require her teammates to push deeper in.

While Barrow was also quick to duck behind cover, Graal and Shae pushed forward into the facility. While her Backlash held, the Asari was free to move. This opened up a little room should Reimi choose to take it.

Where there was one pirate, there was also two others; a Krogan, and another human, a little deeper in that came to the aid to the first. Their focus seemed to be Graal, despite Shae's attempts to put herself between them.

With Graal and Shae pushing into the room, Reimi did advance, though only to the door. Using the side as cover, she was able to poke around into the room and fire off a burst or two from her new Pulse Rifle at the source of incoming gunfire, before ducking back into cover and letting her shields recover when needed.

((Hopefully I described it well... in terms of game mechanics, she'd be using the space directly next to the door and poking out of cover to fire))

Unlike when they had ambushed the Geth and Pirates before, the fight inside the structure was much more drawn out; both sides having to entrench themselves to avoid gunfire. As her Backlash shield broke, Shae too ducked behind a column, leaning out to release a flurry of freezing particles in the direction of the krogan pirate; chilling his armor and making it brittle.

With the Krogan's armor brittle and attacks apparently focused on Shae, Reimi released a concentrated burst of assault rifle fire on the enemy, looking to take advantage of the situation.

With the integrity of his armor reduced, it didn't take much for Reimi's bullets to punch through the Krogan's suit. He, like all his kind, was pretty resilient though; roaring in pain and anger before charging at Graal.

With the Krogan charging Graal, Reimi had to change her target, not wanting to risk hitting her teammate. The other enemies, using cover, weren't as easy to hit, but by the same token, were less likely to be able to hit her.

Though the fight was much more one of attrition than before, the N7 members had the advantage of numbers; three vs two, with the two krogan grappling each other.

Much like Reimi, the pirates didn't want to shoot their krogan ally, so their fire focused on Shae instead.

With the target becoming Chae, Reimi was able to stay on the offensive, pelting the pirates with bursts from her Pulse Rifle.

Often relying on ambushes and numbers, while preying on freight and passenger shuttles, the pirates were outmatched when it came to fighting a highly trained squad of N7 elites. With Shae taking the brunt of their offensive, Reimi and Barrow were free to strike at the pirates.

Under concentrated fire, the pirates were soon put down, leaving only the two wrestling krogan to sort out. Graal seemed to have things in hand, but the pirate was putting up a fight.

Stepping out from cover, Reimi advanced on the wrestling Krogan, keeping her gun trained on the pirate. "If you surrender, we'll spare your life," Reimi offers. "Your allies are down, there's no winning this fight for you. Do the smart thing."

While the Krogan were stubborn and battle hungry, they weren't all fools. He knew he was outmatched and outgunned. "Raagh! Fine! I surrender!" the large alien says, Graal taking the opportunity to pin him down.

"Good, we don't need more bloodshed," Reimi replies, lowering her rifle. "So, what were you doing here? And so close to a Geth encampment?"

"We were here first, before the Geth." the krogan answers, "We don't know what they're doing here, but they don't bother us, so we don't bother them."
