Final Drills

"Or for some unknown race to actually put up a fight against their military," Reimi remarks. "Still amazing they were able to do that..."

"The Turian are proud of their military, but the Krogan were beating them too." Graal laughs as the Mako pulls to a stop. "Guess we're here."

"I've parked a distance away, we can close in on foot. Be a little obvious in our approach." Barrow announces.

While Reimi had a theory of why the Krogan had done so well, the conversation was cut short with their arrival. Unbuckling, Reimi hurried to get out so she could use her scope to get a better idea of what they were about to get into.

Looking through the scope, Reimi could see several Geth Troopers outside a structure; though the building itself didn't appear to be of Geth design. There was equipment around it however, similar in design to the jamming device found on Eden Prime. Whether or not it had the same purpose though, seemed unlikely.

It was hard to tell from a distance whether or not there were more Geth platforms inside of the structure or not.

Holding her rifle mostly steady with her right hand, Reimi held up her left and lifted three fingers, telling the others silently that she saw three enemies in the Geth camp ahead. She left it unsaid that there could be more inside, since that seemed obvious. Returning her left hand to her rifle, she focused on the device, straining both her eye and her scope to try to make out as much detail as she could. With the best vision and scope of the group, it was on her to act as a scout, though she couldn't control what the others, especially the volatile Graal, would do with that information.

"Odds are in our favor them, assuming there aren't a lot more of them inside." Shae says, keeping low while Reimi checked things out. Graal had his shotgun in hand, but he wasn't charging towards the structure; not yet, at least.

"Unless we take them all down at once, the others will be alerted." Barrow adds.

"There's also some kind of device," Reimi remarks quietly. "Can't really tell what it is... not without getting closer, anyway."

"Then let's get closer." Shae says, "If it hasn't knocked out comms by now, its probably not another jammer."

"Whatever it is, it'll stop doing what its doing when we break it." Graal adds, though remained back for now.

"I can hit the Troopers outside from here, but that will alert them," Reimi remarks. "Do you want me to support from range, or get in closer?"

"You've got the range, I think you should hold back." Barrow says, "I'll leave my turret here, to watch your back."

"Just give us a moment to get closer, then take your shot. We'll take the attention." Shae says, motioning to herself and Graal before they started their approach.

"Support it is," Reimi confirms, getting into a good position to serve as sniper. She wouldn't know exactly when the best time would be, so she had to guess. After about a minute had passed, she took aim at the head of one of the troopers and fired.

A minute proved long enough, as Shae was quick to strike once the first shot had been fired. Though she'd been keeping pace with Graal on their approach, she blinked forward with the help of her biotics; driving a sword through the head of one of the other Geth.

The last remaining Geth made a whirring sound, its lights turning red as it raised its gun to begin firing on the asari.

Reimi didn't let the third one fire more than a couple times before she'd lined up her second shot, taking it to blast the AI's head off. With the third one dealt with, all she could do now was wait for any kind of response from inside...

There was no response from inside right away, but the sounds of machinery were soon from inside the structure. A large red platform emerged, a cannon mounted on its shoulder. With a mechanical whirring it turned towards Graal, the largest target, and took aim.

Accompanying it, though hard to notice, was a pair of shimmering movement; easy to miss if the Prime was distracting.

While the large red Geth was clearly a threat, there were too many Geth signals in the area for it to be just that one unit. Using her rifle to aim at one of the shimmering spots, she used Energy Drain, stripping the shields off a previously hidden Geth with a shotgun.

"Cloaking," Reimi calls out, looking to warn the others that there were additional enemies in the area.

Graal took a few shots from the Geth Prime, though it only seemed to anger him, rather than slow him down. He charged through towards the large Geth, tackling it with his large frame.

Without shields, the Geth Hunter was exposed, leaving it vulnerable to a Snap Freeze from Shae; the intense cold freezing the now unprotected synthetic. Barrow moved to support Graal, taking shots at the Prime when he had a chance, though his rifle was struggling to penetrate its armor.

Even if her focus wasn't on the other cloaked figure, Reimi would be of little additional help against the large red Geth. Finding it wasn't easy, but once she had, she once again looked to draw away its shields, leaving it vulnerable and visible to the others.

With Barrow helping Graal, Shae kept her focus on the hunters, specifically the frozen one right in front of her. Taking her heavier pistol in hand, she put a few shots in its head; the rounds piercing the frozen, brittle frame with ease until it thawed and collapsed.

With Shae dealing with the hunters and both Barrow and Graal struggling on the larger Prime, Reimi next turned her attention to that. Her shots were slower, but packed a punch as she unloaded her third shot on the Geth's head.

Though it was slow, sniper rifles were effective at penetrating armor; giving it an advantage over Barrow's assault rifle. With her powerful biotics, Shae was able to quickly dispatch the second Hunter, an explosion of energy tearing its frame apart.

Until this unit, Reimi had never seen a Geth that could take a pounding like this one.Its armor, which she hadn't seen on one before, was still holding, and it was only a matter of time until its shields could come back up. For now, though, all she could do was keep unloading sniper shots into his frame as often as she could, hoping her powerful shells could make a difference.

With its powerful shields and heavy armor, the Geth Prime was aptly named; it was the pinnacle of Geth hardware. Housing a large number of programs, it had heightened performance and reactions, on top of its physical strength and endurance. Taller than even a Krogan, it was holding Graal at bay as he tried to overpower it, though he was succeeding at tying up its arms to prevent the use of its rifle. This left only the pulse cannon on its shoulder as a real threat, which aimed first at Barrow and fired off a pair of heavy shots, before turning towards Reimi.

Prone against the ground behind some terrain cover, Reimi herself was a difficult target to hit on top of being outside the range for most guns. Still, with the focus on her, she intended to play it safe. Following her next sniper shot, she reached out with her omnitool, as she'd done before with the Hunters, looking to draw energy from the Geth to boost her own shielding.

With the Hunters dealt with, Shae was free to join the others in dealing with the Prime. The draw from Reimi damaged the synthetic and kept its shields from recovering, but it didn't show any signs of stopping. Accompanied by mechanical droning, the large machine practically tossed Graal off of it, bringing its gun up to take aim at the krogan; though Shae was quick to put herself in front, deflecting its gunfire back at itself.

Whatever this new type of Geth was, it was clearly trouble. All Reimi could really do was continue to pelt it from range with her sniper rifle.
