Final Drills

Once in the system, it didn't take Reimi long to completely disable the device. It made an audible sound as it shut down, the signal it was putting off ceasing completely, and systems began to restore.

"Delta Squad, come in." a voice said over their omnitools; proving that communications had returned.

"Delta Squad here," Reimi replies. She'd thought at first that the source of the disruption had to be the unknown signal, so she was glad she'd asked about the Geth signal, since that seemed to be the cause.

"Systems are returning, the ship will soon be ready to depart." the voice continues, one of the crew of the ship. "Finish up and return, we'll get this sorted."

"We can hail the Normandy then." Ashley says, though Kaidan was already doing so.

"We're on our way," Reimi replies, looking to the rest of the group. "Mission complete, it seems."

"I gave the Normandy the coordinates of your vessel, it will meet us there." Kaidan says, holstering his rifle. There had been no signs of Geth beyond their device.

With the device shut down and under control, there was little else for Reimi still to do. She considered capturing a copy of the code in local storage, but decided the risk wasn't worth it.

For good measure, once the device had been disabled, Graal put a round of metal shrapnel into it; the thick blades cutting through the device and destroying it, so it couldn't be reactivated or used again.

No Geth signals anymore, it was an uneventful return to their ship; where a second was waiting for them, the SSV Normandy. "Delta Squad. Cpt David Anderson. Our medical team has already moved Shepard onto the Normandy, thank you for your assistance in this matter." a darker skinned human says, introducing himself. From his armor, it was clear he was an N7 graduate himself.

"Sir, glad we made it in time," Reimi responds, saluting the superior officer. "The area seems to be secure. If we're going to be fighting Geth, there's some debris where Lieutenant Alenko and Chief Williams that should be safe to collect."

"We'll take it from here Delta Squad, finishing collecting the beacon and these Geth scraps." Anderson replies, saluting the quartet. "Thank you for looking after my XO."

"Glad we made it on time," Reimi replies, before turning to head back to the tram once again. "The scraps should be no problem, not sure how we're going to collect whatever that beacon is..."

"No need to worry about the how. Retrieving the beacon is supposed to be the Normandy's mission." Anderson replies, "Lt Alenko, Chief Williams if she is willing, and myself, will see to it."

"Very well, sir, good luck," Reimi replies. With that, the mission seemed to be over, leaving the group little to do but return to the ship and wait for their next mission.

"Thank you again, Delta Squad. Your timely aid really helped us out of a bind." Anderson replies, returning with the Kaidan and Ashley into the Normandy; to check on Shepard before finishing their own mission.

With nothing more for Delta to do on Eden Prime, they were set to return to Earth. "Glad to see communication is restored, we'd lost contact upon your arrival at Eden Prime." Lieutenant Svenko's voice says once they were on board their own ship. "Return to the base for the full debriefing."

"Yes, sir," Reimi replies. With the job officially done, short a debrief, she let her mind wander back to the strange code apparently put off by the beacon, unsure exactly who could have wrote it...

"The Normandy... must have been something important." Shae says after they were on their way back to Earth. "Anything I can find, which isn't much, says its one of the Alliance's best vessels."

"I've never heard of it," Reimi responds. "Though I guess if there's not much information about the ship, most people wouldn't..."

"It looks like its a newer frigate, and highly classified, which makes it seem important." Shae continues, reading off some of the information from her omnitool. "Looks like its a collaboration with Turian technology."

"Actually working on a classified operation with the Turians?" Reimi asks. "I mean, I know the war's over, but still..."

"It's a good thing though, the Alliance is making good progress with the Council." Shae continues.

"Yeah, sure is nice for the humans to be considered for the Council. Not like the Krogan were around first." Graal says, though he was laughing.

"And it's strange, since many consider humans the aggressors from that war," Reimi remarks, bringing up a brief history of the First Contact War on her omnitool. "Wait, Williams... I wonder if the Williams from this is related to that Chief Williams we saved..."

((Not sure if you read about the First Contact war or not, but it's her grandfather))

"It is." Barrow chimes in. "The General Williams that retook Shanxi is Gunnery Chief Williams grandfather."

"Interesting connections." Shae adds.

"You knew that off the top of your head?" Reimi asks, surprised. "I guess I did only bring up a summary to look over, but that still seems obscure to just know..."

Barrow shrugs a little. "I was actually in the academy with Ashley Williams for awhile, but it didn't seem important before."

"That would explain it," Reimi replies, satisfied with that answer.

"It came up a few times, she's very proud of him." Barrow says.

"That is understandable. From what I know of the stories, General Williams would be considered a human War Hero." Shae adds.
