Final Drills

"Could be, there are all kinds of cultures and races here in Rio now." Barrow agrees.

"You weren't wrong when you said they had something for everyone. This is almost as good as you can get back on Thessia. Almost." Shae offers, regarding her own drink.

"Well, whoever did the sake nailed it," Reimi remarks, taking a drink from her second cup. "It is a bit more local, though."

"I'm glad you're all enjoying your selections. I've always favored this place." Barrow offers.

"I can see why." Shae answers, "Good drinks, good atmosphere, pretty good music."

"And actually has sake," Reimi adds, raising her cup in mock toast, though didn't actually wait for others to do the same before drinking it down. "Which means I'll likely be coming back."

"Assuming of course we have time to come back. What do you think they'll have us doing next?" Shae asks.

"Maybe still working on that rebel group," Reimi remarks. "Otherwise it's hard to say, since we've never done N7 missions before."

"I wonder about those rebels... Sending supplies all over the galaxy, just what were they, or are they, trying to accomplish?" Shae asks before taking a drink. "Maybe we'll see more of them, get some proper answers."

"Higher ups probably already have more answers," Reimi remarks quietly. "We don't have the clearance to know, though..."

"Whatever comes, we should enjoy tonight. Who knows how many nights off like this we're gonna get?" Barrow says, raising his bottle in a toast, which was joined by Graal and Shae.

This time for a real toast, Reimi raised her mostly empty cup of sake to join her squadmates in the toast, before drinking down the rest. Despite being a type of wine, sake was considerably higher in alcohol content, so Reimi needed to be careful of drinking too much lest it affect her.

Everyone seemed to be pacing themselves with their drinking, with the exception of Graal; who was on this third ryncol already, and seemed to worse for wear downing the potent alcohol.

"If this might be our last free night, then I'm going dancing." Shae says, downing the last of her own drink and setting the glass on the table.

"You should have fun," Reimi suggests, more to the entire table than to Shae specifically. Her bottle of sake still had some left, but she made no move to refill her cup with the last of it.

Barrow shook his head. "I'm not much for dancing."

"Krogan don't dance." Graal adds gruffly.

"Then I shall go by myself." Shae answers simply, making her way to the dance floor.

Dancing was never really something that had interested Reimi, so she didn't know how to. Since Shae seemed to be content to go to the floor on her own, she didn't feel bad about it. content to remain with the others from their squad.

"Feel a little bad making her go out there on her own, but I'm afraid I'd just embarrass her." Barrow says, shaking his head.

"Krogan don't dance." Graal repeats.

"And I never learned," Reimi remarks. "I know a few obscure Japanese rituals, but none of them involved dancing."

Barrow nodded, smirking a little as it pointed towards Shae with his bottle; the asari dancing with another. "She doesn't seem too broken up about us not joining her."

"That's one thing about Asari, they always seem to blend in well with others," Reimi replies.

"Well, when you can mate with everyone and everything, it pays to be able to blend in with others." Graal chuckles, getting another ryncol for himself.

"More so when breeding with your own kind can result in monsters." Barrow agrees.

"Monsters?" Reimi asks. "I've heard purebred Asari can be a little... arrogant, but monsters?"

"Monsters isn't far off. Maybe not in their personality, but Ardat-Yakshi kill anyone they mate with." Graal confirms. "They can't help it, but doesn't change that it happens. I can relate to making troubles."

"Not all pure blood asari become Ardat-Yakshi, but it is a risk." Barrow continues.

"I'm... not too familiar with that term," Reimi remarks.

"I didn't know it until recently, heard it from some of the other Asari recruits." Barrow says, downing the last of his beer.

"When you live as long as a krogan, you pick things up over the centuries." Graal says with a shrug. "Though we're all pretty aware of Ardat-Yakshi and to avoid them. We've got enough problems with the genophage, don't need full grown krogan dying too."

None of the others seemed to want to tell Reimi what one of these Ardat-Yakshi were, and she wasn't going to press on the issue.

"If that were cured, how do you think the Krogan would react?" Reimi asks. It was often a risk to discuss the genophage around a Krogan, so Reimi was careful with how she asked. "Some say they'd return to how they were that caused it in the first place..."

"If the Krogan don't get their shit together, yeah, it'll just go back to how it was and probably get hit with another genophage." Graal agrees with a grunt. "That's why someone needs to take charge, unite the clans and stop all this warmongering. Part of why I joined the ICT program, to get away from it all. Its fun sure, but it doesn't solve anything."
