Final Drills

"So that's how it works..." Reimi muses. "The vibrations anger creatures, and the Krogan fights whatever shows up..."

"Yeah, its not much of a secret. You fly out, activate the hammer, kill everything that arrives or survive the allotted time." Graal says. "Its tough, but not impossible. Still, not every Krogan who attempts it survive."

"And if there just happens to be an angry Thresher Maw in hearing range, it attacks," Reimi remarks. "I understand now, that makes more sense."

"Sometimes, there aren't any Thresher Maws around, but the test goes on without them." Graal answers, chuckling.

"Even if they pass, I'm sure those Krogan are given a hard time." Shae adds, "Since they didn't experience the Maw's trial."

"Knowing Krogan society, that'd be a safe bet," Reimi remarks.

Graal laughs again. "Oh yeah, but some try to play it off as the Maw being too scared to attack them. Just makes it worse though."

"Of course, that's easy to see through," Reimi remarks. "A Thresher Maw wouldn't know fear."

"Thresher Maw don't fear anything, certainly not a Krogan and his krantt." Graal chuckles, "So, what do we now? You three doing anything while you wait?"

"No plans I couldn't drop," Reimi remarks. "I do what I can to improve my weaponry between missions, but haven't been making much progress."

"What kind of things are there to do on Earth? Haven't spend much time idle during the training, I like to spar and make sure my weapons are in order." Graal asks gruffly.

"Same kind of things you'd find on Tuchanka really, maybe more. We've got bars, clubs, sporting events." Barrow answers.

"Varren fights?" the Krogan asks.

"Can't say I've ever seen a varren on earth," Reimi remarks.

Barrow shakes her head. "No, varrens fights would be illegal on Earth. Same as dog fights." he answers.

"Hmm..." Graal grumbles, "Drinking it is, assuming you humans have anything worth drinking." he adds with a chuckle.

"Might be able to find some ryncol somewhere," Reimi remarks. "I've never really had anything nearly that strong, or been anywhere that serves hard drinks, so I'm not really sure where."

"Ryncol would do it." Graal laughed. "There's gotta be some around her somewhere."

"I know the local bars, I'm sure we can find something." Barrow replies.

"You three enjoy, I think I'll go over some things in the training room." Shae adds.

"A place that serves ryncol likely wouldn't have what I'd drink, but there's no reason I couldn't come," Reimi offers. "Team building, so to speak."

"If you're all going, I guess I can tag along too. Weapon tests can wait, though I'm not much of a drinker." Shae admits.

"The bar I'm thinking of should have something for everyone, even if Ryncol isn't to your taste." Barrow offers.

"I'd be surprised if any of you did have a taste for it. Not really made for anyone but Krogan to handle." Graal laughs.

"Like drinking glass," Reimi remarks. "I'm eager to see if they actually do have something for everything. Lead the way."

The group had to stop over at the barracks to drop off their equipment for their casual clothes. The club in question was in the middle of Rio, a larger place with music, drinks and dancing; and a few options for food as well. The lights were low, and the music filled the club without being overly loud.

Graal was quick to head to the bar, getting himself a large serving of Ryncol; thankful to learn that they had some krogan making the strong alcohol, rather than humans trying to recreate it themselves.

"What will you two be having?" Barrow asks, following Graal to the bar. "They should have whatever you're after."

"And now we test that," Reimi remarks. "Sake, if they have it."

Whether or not it was a surprise, the club did have a few options for Sake. With the ICT based in Rio, the city had become a cultural mix; and even more so with the introduction of the various alien races as well. This meant they also had the Asari alcohol Shae wanted, while Barrow kept to a more basic, local beer.

Reimi didn't bother to hide her surprise that they actually had sake; even before spaceflight was a common occurrence it was slowly being phased out of traditional gatherings in Japan, so a bar in Brazil having it, and multiple options, was a genuine surprise. Once everyone at the table had their drinks and were back, she poured some from the small earthenware bottle into the porcelain cup and took a sip, savoring the Japanese rice wine.

"See? Something for everyone." Barrow says with a grin, settling in to a table with her bottle of beer. "You can thank for the ICT for that, so many people in and out, they like to cater to everyone's taste; ensures more customers."

"Sake's a Japanese rice wine which had almost completely vanished," Reimi explains. "It was difficult to make and so-called western influence opened the doors to easier forms of alcohol, so finding someone that's brewing it again, especially outside of Japan, is just a surprise."

"I don't question where it comes from, but it seems rather popular here." Barrow answers.

"The ryncol is good too, but its made by krogan; and they wouldn't do it wrong." Graal adds.

"They probably have someone of Japanese ancestry doing the sake," Reimi adds after drinking down the rest of her first cup.
