Final Drills

While holding her shield with her right hand, Shae drew a small pistol with her left. It was white, of Asari make, and shot microgrenades making it a little more effective for shooting around cover, if she could get the angles right. As her shield broke against the shotgun blast from one of the mechs, she ducked back behind the cover of a building. Leaning back out, she fires a pair of grenades that bouncing along the uneven ground before exploding near a LOKI mech; though without an atmosphere, they seem much less effective than intended.

Though most explosives are less effective in a vacuum, Barrow does one kind that isn't diminished. Lobbing a larger grenade, somewhat blindly, a burst of electricity strips the shields from the closer of the Atlases, catching one of the rebels as well and frying his shield too.

With the shield down on one of the Atlas mechs, Reimi had a new target. Carefully lining up her shot, she fired at the viewscreen protecting the pilot from frontal fire. It was a difficult shot, since it wasn't straight on, but she had to take the chance.

Reimi's shot struck the front view screen, sending a web of cracks along the pane; though it didn't yet break. Turning, the pilot fired off a missile blindly in the direction the shot had come from.

Jumping her cover, Shae charged forward, her omnitool letting out a spray of freezing particles which frosted over the cracked view screen of the Atlas. Graal was close behind the asari to cover her, his flak cannon stopping one of the rebels in their tracks.

While the missile didn't hit Reimi, it did slam into the outcropping she was using as cover. No longer safe using it, the engineer holstered her sniper rifle and pulled out her assault rifle, looking to join the rest of her team as quickly as she could.

Shae was the only one who watched as the rocket flew towards Reimi, relieved that it missed her, though it earned the asari a few shots in the shoulder that broke through her barrier. Graal was quick to jump in front of her, using his larger frame to provide cover while her barrier recharged and she could get her Backlash shield up again.

Though it was risky, Shae didn't want the Atlas' shields to begin recharging, so she hit it with another Flare; the biotic energy exploding around the large mech and a rebel near it.

Poking from around the corner, Reimi fired off a concussive shot towards the damaged viewscreen of the Atlas she'd hit. Her skills didn't allow her to be up close and personal like most of the rest of the squad, but she did have good skills to use against the mechs.

The impact of the Concussive Shot shattered the cracked and frozen viewscreen, exposing the pilot inside. If not for the belts holding him to his seat, the sudden change in pressure would have pulled him out of the mech.

With well-trained aim, Barrow leaned out of cover and placed a single burst of fire from his assault rifle into the pilot; removing the threat of the first Atlas, though one still remained.

With the first Atlas out of comission, Reimi turned her attention to the second. In close range, her abilities were far more effective, and she started by stripping the shields from the second with Energy Drain. With her own reinforced, she started firing at it with her assault rifle, though it wouldn't be nearly as effective as her sniper rifle had been.

Now that one Atlas was out of commission, it was a little safer to focus on the remaining rebels. Wanting more precision, Shae holsters her Acolyte, taking her Carnifex in hand instead. Stepping out from her cover, she protects herself with her Backlash shield; trying to draw the fire to her and away from her allies so she could deflect it.

While some of the remaining rebels did focus on her, the Atlas remained on her allies; Reimi specifically since she'd been the one to strip its shields.

Pinned down by the heavy fire from the Atlas, Reimi's options were limited but not non-existent. Turning again to her omni-tool, she hacked into and took control of one of the two remaining LOKI mechs. While it wouldn't be any smarter, it would fight for her now, and perhaps draw some enemy fire.

The hacked LOKI was a distraction, immediately beginning to fire upon on one of the rebels and stripping his shield and leaving him open to a well placed shot from Shae's heavy pistol. As the rebels' numbers began to dwindle, Graal pushed the offensive, charging the remaining LOKI with his hammer; crushing the mech.

While it was nice of the LOKI to help bring down a rebel, she'd hoped it would prove a distraction for the Atlas. With little choice, she started back the other way around the building, trying to flank so she could get back to being useful to the squad.

Once the LOKI had finished off the rebel, it did begin to look for a new target, this time settling on the larger Atlas mech. Its gun did little to the armor of the large piloted machine, but it was a distraction none the less; letting Reimi slip away unnoticed.

Coming to the next corner, Reimi switched weapons again. She didn't have the extreme long distance and cover from the outcropping, but she did have distance. Slipping half way out of cover, she used her scope to take aim, trying to find a good target to pick off.

There were a few targets left, but aside from the Atlas, it seemed that Delta team had them on the ropes. Along with the Atlas and two remaining LOKI, one of which was hacked, there were only four rebels left. The large mech was still problematic, but Barrow and Graal were whittling through its armor when they had chances to shoot.

With only three more rebels left after her shot, Reimi knew she'd need to turn her focus to the Atlas once again. Switching back to her assault rifle, she opened with a Concussive Shot before peppering it with long range hits. While it wasn't nearly as accurate as her sniper at long range, against a larger target like an Atlas, it wasn't hard to hit.

With its shields down, it was just a matter of chipping through the Atlas' armor, which Graal was working on with his heavy hitting shotgun and combat abilities, while Shae and Barrow provided cover fire to keep the remaining rebels from interfering too much. As the large mech turned to fire a rocket at the krogan, the asari blinked in from of him; raising her shield to have it detonate against the biotic barrier.

There was little Reimi could do to help her allies but continue to fire at the Atlas as quickly as her assault rifle's heat would allow. The rocket was concerning, certainly, but the others all seemed to have good defensive abilities, so hopefully they'd be fine.

Shae's backlash was able to absorb the rocket, though it shattered in the process; forcing her back into cover. Under sustained fire from Reimi, the Atlas turned its attention to her, taking aim with its cannon and firing at her.

While the others didn't have cover, Reimi was able to slip back into the cover of the building when the Atlas turned to strike at her shields. Much like a short time ago, it would leave her pinned down, but also open the mech up to a strike from the others.

With the attention once more on Reimi, who had proper cover to hide behind, Graal fired his flak cannon at the Atlas; the barrage of shrapnel devastating its view screen.

Barrow's turret kept the few remaining rebels from peaking out of their cover for too long, but one lingered just long for Shae to hit them with a Flare; biotic energy exploding around them.

While Reimi could have tried to creep back around the building, being the target of the Atlas seemed to be proving more effective for the group than her able to join them.

Unable to split its attention, Graal's heavy hitting shotgun soon had the Atlas out of commission; leaving just a pair of rebels, though they were quickly taken care of by Shae and Barrow once the large mech was no longer a threat.

"I think thats all of them, unless there are more hiding inside." the asari says over their communications.

"We should make sure regardless," Reimi responds. Without currently being under fire, she turned her attention back to her omnitool, looking to gleam any information she could from their system. She wasn't as proficient at hacking as an AI would be, naturally, but she did have training and skill in the field.

There was little to be found in terms of information, at least remotely. All Reimi was really able to find was that this was to be staging point, for supplies and personnel, though a point between where wasn't known; though it was safe to assume Earth was one of the locations. To learn anything else, they would likely need to find a console.
