Final Drills

"I'm sure she would be," Reimi agrees. "If she can live up to the standards he set for the family, the Alliance is in good hands."

After a few Mass Effect jumps, the squad arrived back on Earth; once more touching down in Rio at the ICT facility. They were quickly brought before the Captain. "Delta Squad, thank you for such efficient work." he begins, "I've already received a preliminary report from the Normandy, but please, I would like to hear your side of things."

"We don't know much, unfortunately," Reimi replies. "Geth attacked and set up some kind of disrupting signal that shut down systems. There was some other strange signal in the area, but it was like nothing I've ever seen. We defeated the Geth, extracted the team, shut down the signal, and left ourselves."

"I'm afraid the details of what happened on Eden Prime are to be kept strictly confidential." the Captain continues, "At no point, should you be discussing the Normandy, or their own goal on Eden Prime, with anyone; especially those outside Delta Squad."

"Does this have something to do with the strange signal?" Shae asks, figuring this was the only time to ask questions; even if answers would be vague.

"The signal, was very likely a Prothean Beacon. An important discovery for humans, who used Prothean discoveries found on Mars to explore beyond our system. That is not classified." he explains, "I can say no more than that."

"Understood," Reimi replies, saluting. Truth be told, she didn't really know enough to reveal anything confidential, so she wasn't in any danger.

"Good, if all is understood, then your next assignment begins immediately." the Captain explains, motioning to Lieutenant Svenko for her to bring up a display. "Since you now experience with the Geth, we're sending you to check on reports of another sighting."

As the Captain explained, the Lieutenant brought up information on the planet Trebin; in the Hades Gamma. "While not confirmed, there are reports of Geth on the surface, as well as rogue elements. Mercenaries and slavers."

"What kind of terrain are we talking?" Reimi asks. "Any innocents?"

"Uneven, lots of hills and valleys." Svenko explains, "No known innocents. Reports are based on sightings of a Geth vessel in the system. Normally, we would have considered such claims to be false. Hades Gamma is well outside Geth territory, but so was Eden Prime."

"Which of course raises the question of what they're doing so far from home," Reimi remarks. "Though an answer to that might not be so easy to find..."

"Why the Geth are in Hades Gamma likely isn't a question we'll get an answer to." Barrow says.

"The why isn't important. Your task is to confirm the Geth sightings and destroy any platforms you encounter." Svenko explains.

"Confirm and destroy," Reimi repeats, confirming she understood the orders. Against the Geth again, her role would be central, since she'd proven she could take over their platforms, if only temporary.

"Dismissed. Restock and resupply, then return to the ship to depart." the Captain says, letting the squad begin their preparations for a new mission.

"Looks like we're not getting much rest, beyond what we can get on route." Shae comments, leading the way to the barracks.

"That's what N7 means," Reimi remarks. Once again against Geth, her arrows would serve no point, but she did feel it best to ensure she was well stocked on ammo for her guns.

"We better get going then, sooner we're on the ship, sooner we get some rest." Graal says, following Shae to the barracks to restock a few things before returning to their ship to take off.

"All the other squads must be busy already." Barrow says with a shrug.

"Which implies a lot of work," Reimi remarks. "Wonder if something more is going on than just Geth..."

"Maybe it is just the Geth. If they're out of their territory, they could be causing trouble in multiple systems." Shae offers, "Or more of those soldiers we removed from Ganymede. They were sending supplies, so there must be more of them out there. "

"Whatever it is, something big is coming," Reimi remarks. "Too much to be a coincidence..."

"Hopefully its nothing we can't handle." Shae says with a nod of her head.

"Best to focus on our current assignment for now, and worry about the rest later." Barrow adds, "Geth and possibly pirates."

"I guess there's nothing we can do about it one way or another," Reimi sighs. "It's hard not to be concerned, though."

Shae nods her head in agreement. "It is difficult to keep from worrying, but if we dwell on it too much right now, it'll affect our performance on this mission."

"Shae is probably right. First we mop up this mess, then we can ask about any others." Graal agrees, "Or demand to know." He adds, sounding considerably more krogan in that moment.

"Normally I'm not one for demanding anything of superior officers, but in this case I may make an exception," Reimi remarks quietly. "I know this is our job, being N7, but nothing was ever said about being redeployed within minutes of returning to debrief."

"I guess elite teams like ours are highly in demand." Shae says, the ship once again taking flight after the team had finished their preparations and boarded. Even with the Relays, it would be some time before they arrived in Hades Gamma; giving them a chance to rest and relax a little.

Reimi intended to take advantage of what time remained before they arrived by getting some shut eye. The first step in that was finding an unoccupied bunk...

As large as the ship was, it wasn't difficult to find a bunk to use; as the crew was willing to give up theirs so the Squad could sleep. Though there were others as well, outside the crew quarters to use. Barrow took one of the officers up on the offer to use their bunk, while Graal settled on the floor in the armory; the beds weren't really sized for Krogan anyway.

Reimi probably could have gotten an officer's quarters if she'd held out, but when she found a bunk she could use, she was satisfied; it was sleep she was after, not creature comforts.
